Mind the Gap!

i love Europe!

I have been in London for two days now, and aside from a few minor technical difficulties, I am having a great time. The more time passes, the more I am convinced that I really shouldn't be living in America because it just flat out sucks over there. I look at London, which is nowhere near my top 5 favorite European cities, and I find myself wondering when did I steer from the path I had chosen, which seemed at the time like road less traveled, and ended up doing the easier thing which was going back home.

Melancholy....

By the same token, I have found that in the past year that I have been away, some of those really annoying American bad habits have rubbed off on me. All those little things I used to make fun of Americans for doing, I find myself doing them now and it pisses me off because I suddenly feel unworldly, which to me translates to unworthy.

Maybe on Sunday I should just "miss" my flight and try to go back to the beautiful, colorful life I once had here in Europe...hard to say what the right choice is though.

I LOVE EUROPE...

I do think humans are more or less equally tolerable or unbearable, irrespective of the place. Yes few vernacular social attributes might make a difference but by and large, there is uniformity. But then I am not sure if thats what you had meant here!!!!

Remember that "home is where the heart is", so it doesn't matter where in the world you are as long as you feel at home (thank God for internet, because don't even think you'll get rid of us just like that!).
Now, I wonder what those American bad habits are?
And don't you dare miss your flight!

Annush the right choice for you doesn't seem hard at all. If you trully feel that way then put your money where your mouth is and MISS that flight. Stay there. Otherwise you'll just be a hipocrite. I really don't mean any offense or insult at all. Is just that is hard for me to have much respect for people who spend time complaining about our country, our government and our people while not doing anything to either change what they don't like or to find a country they like and move there. At the same time I do respect anyone who does move out of the U.S. because they don't like it instead of just complaining. You are half way there, if you love Europe much more than America and feel "unworthy" for acting like an American in Europe...nobody has a gun to your head saying you have to comeback and if you come back and no one will put a gun to your head saying you have to stay. Again, is the choice is not hard at all.

Robert I'm sorry to tell you, America doesn't need people who think our country sucks and don't do anything about it to change it. America needs those people to simply find their favorite country and just move out.

Gabemaster,

We should all work to improve things, we can agree. I just feel this country is made stronger with a voice like annush's, even if we don't always agree.

Sometimes the discussion can be the first step.
