Thank you.

Sometimes it is the little things that make the difference.

For months now, I have been involved with a project at work that has caused me everything from a stiff neck to gastritis. Although this has been something that at times has left me feeling like I was running around in circles, I have persevered because I know that not only is this what I get paid to do, but is something that I know that once it gets on its own two feet, it will be something greater than I can ever imagine.

Today, while I was at work I got a phone call from my boss. After a lot of pain and aggravation, it seems like “my baby” is beginning to walk. He called specifically to say “Thank you”.

Here is a reenactment:

*phone rings*
Me: This is Ana, may I help you?
Boss: Hey Ana! I just called to tell you that everything is great. I really wanted to say Thank you for all your hard work. You’ve done a great job making this happen!
Me: Oh wow! No Problem! Thank YOU for letting me handle this. The experience has been amazing!
Boss: You are welcome but really.

Now, I am not one to get all sappy and bent out of shape because someone said something nice to me; but I am one to take things for what they are worth and to me this was priceless. Not once in my entire career have I had an employer say “thank you” just for me doing what I am supposed to be doing.

Little do they know that it is those little things that keep employees happy. Or at least they keep me happy. And what’s more, I feel so appreciated that I feel as if I had gotten a 50% raise!

Today has been a very good day.

Thank you for reading.
