Live 8- Philadelphia

Live 8- Philly
So my long weekend started out in the city of brotherly love: Philadelphia. Dan, a few friends and myself all head over there for the Live 8 concert that took place on Saturday. It was a great Saturday!! All the performers were great, including the ones we didn't really care for like Tobey Keiths. Who is that guy anyway?

I think that by far my favorite performances were Dave Matthews Band and Linkin Park, not counting of course the Coldplay and Green Day performances that the Live 8 people were nice enough to show on the video screens as they were going on in London and Berlin. Though I think that here we got a great line up, it would have been cool to have gone to the one in London. That lineup kicked ass... Though I would trade Annie Lenox for Alicia Keys any day of the week...

So many ankles!!
Supossedly there were somewhere around the neighborhood of a million people standing in Logan Square. It looked like a massive sea of people. Overall, I was really impressed over the fact that everything was so well organized. It's hard to keep so many people happy, and yet, everyone was just chilling. At one point during the day, I sat down to keep the sun from hitting me so directly (I am so sunburnt!) and I noticed at all the ankles that were everywhere. All different kinds of ankles decorated by different tattooes and ankle bracelets. That was very cool.
Somewhat symbolic even...imagine, "a million people each from a different walk of life"...hehehe

Oh and I really had to comment on this: I thought we were done with the whole "we hate the French" thing... Freedom fries??? Come on now!

You're so lucky! I'm glad you had a good time, I caught most of it on my TiVo ... But I mainly saw the London show.

Glad you had a great day.

We watched the Philly concert on the BBC after the overrunning Hyde Park concert.

Wish I'd been at one of them.

Great to read that the US is enthusiastic about Live8. Let's hope we can bring some justice to Africa. I've written a bit about this in my blog Rising Dawn. http://www.digistories.co.uk/blog/dawn.html

A, that was so cool you went! I watched mostly the london LIVE8. But they would switch to Philly occasionally. Love Kaiser Chiefs! Did they air the london shows at all? Madonna rocked!!
