maybe i've been looking at it all wrong...

If you love something, set it free;
if it comes back it's yours.
If it doesn't, it never was.

even though I hurt each time you leave,
I find comfort in knowing that you always come back...

I prefer the alternate ending, "If it doesn't come back, hunt it down and kill it." I once had a T-shirt that said that. =)
