Performing were Mike Doughty, Jem, Ray Lamontagne, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Barenaked LAdies and Dave Matthews Band. Personally, I had only heard of the two headlining acts, but the other people were really not bad.
Barenaked Ladies performed for about an hour and a half and basically performed all the old favorites. I would get more into detail about their performance, except that I spent a good portion of their set looking for a porta-pottie.
The Dave performance was excellent. Aside from the fact that they didn't play any of my favorite songs, they did play other people's favorites and that was good enough for me. Trey Anastasio came onstage and performed Jimi Thing along with Dave. That was awesome! I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed that performance.
We were at Randalls Island until well after 10:00pm. It was a long day. By the time we got home, we were dirty, hungry, dirty, tired, dirty, broke, and i have to emphasize on dirty because we were like dusty and gross. I really thought that there would be more grass than there actually was.
but whatever...a small price to pay to the party Gods...
It was well worth it! If only for the free ice cream.
Anyway, I took a bunch of pictures but I have to get them developed because we were at the mercy of a Fun Saver. Seriously, I don't know how people got by on pre-digital days. I'll post some when I get them.
I did, however, manage to get this picture from a friend who took it with a phone. These were the guys sitting next to us. I guess they did pay attention in science class...
**UPDATE: The rest of the pictures are here.

I did a music festival there once. I also like Kaiser Chiefs right now, they are my new band at the moment

OOH! I'm so so so jealous! Dave and Doughty, and Barenaked Ladies! Anxiously awaiting your photos!
I love Dave. I still have yet to see them live. Do you like the cd with Tim Reynolds? The version of Typical Situation on that CD is awesome.

I like the way you've kept hidden their identities. Very nice touch. Tre Bon!
